November 19, 1924 – January 28, 2025
Bettylou Walton Boone, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on the evening of January 28, 2025, after reaching the incredible milestone of 100 years old. She was a woman of unwavering strength, kindness, and determination, whose warmth and love touched the lives of all who knew her.
Born and raised in Noblesville, Bettylou carried the values of hard work, generosity, and resilience with her throughout her life. She and her late husband, Herbert “Herbie” Boone, were devoted in their faith and never missed church on Sunday. Throughout her long and dedicated career, she worked at Firestone and Riverview Hospital, always bringing her strong work ethic and caring nature to everything she did.
Bettylou is survived by her three children, Ann (Henry) Ostrom, Craig (Marie) Boone, and Jeff (Teresa) Boone; her daughter-in-law, Toni Boone; her cherished grandchildren, Kim (Kenny) Watson, Kris (Bryan) Grinstead, Josh (Steffani) Boone, Michael (Amanda) Ostrom, Ali (Evan) Schwartz, Taylor (Elliot) Ostrom, Jordan Boone, Jean-Luc (Brandie) Boone, and Chloe Boone; and her treasured great-grandchildren, Nathan (Kaylyn) Watson, Natalie (Alex) Watson Barnett, Nicolette Watson, Nash Watson, Nora Privett, Kinley Privett, Abigail Ostrom, Henry Ostrom, Karis Ostrom, and Wesley Boone. She was preceded in death by daughter Janice Boone and grandson Ryan Boone. Her legacy lives on in the love and memories she created with each of them.
A lover of German Shepherds named Jill, coffee, and all things blue, Bettylou found joy in the challenge of a good crossword puzzle and carried an indomitable spirit that made her believe she could do anything. She had a renowned sweet tooth, never passing up a chance to enjoy a delicious treat, and was an accidental collector of clipboards, somehow always acquiring more than she ever needed. She loved yard work almost as much as she hated housework and you never encountered her without hearing music playing in the background and the smell of fresh coffee. Those who had the privilege of knowing her will remember her sweet laugh, quiet resilience, and the way she made everyone feel welcomed and valued.
She will be deeply missed but forever remembered with love. Visitations to honor her life will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, February 2 at Hartley Funeral Home, 209 W. Jackson St., Cicero, and from noon to 2 p.m. Monday, February 3 at Noblesville First United Methodist Church, 2051 Monument St., with a funeral service immediately following. Burial will take place at Crownland Cemetery in Noblesville.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Red Cross in honor of Bettylou and Herbie, who dedicated their time to volunteering with the organization. To celebrate her love of all things blue, the family invites attendees to wear blue in her honor.
Rest in peace, Bettylou. Your kindness, love, and sweet spirit will continue to shine in the hearts of those you’ve left behind.
