Betty Ruth Harris

April 16, 1940 – March 19, 2022

Betty Ruth Harris, 81, Westfield, passed away on March 19, 2022, at her home with her daughter. She was born April 16, 1940, in Anderson, Ind., to Luke P. and Nelle (Reynolds) Bond.

She started working at an early age as a waitress, a job she grew to greatly enjoy. She was a “people person” and she made many good friends waitressing. Betty had worked at various restaurants in Hamilton and Madison counties that included the following: East Star Inn, Back lash, Wheelers Truck Stop, Pizza King, Spike and Ann’s, Woodies, Family Circle, Beanie’s Cafeteria, and Jim Dandy. She also worked for several years as a press operator at Firestone Rubber Company and also at their cafeteria.

Leisure time would find her doing word search game books, watching game shows on television, following the Indianapolis Colts and Pacers games, and keeping track of prices at various places. She greatly enjoyed family gatherings, especially being with her grandchildren.

She attended the Fellowship Baptist Church in Noblesville when her health permitted.

She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Kay (Fahnestock) Bays of Westfield; a son, Gregory Fahnestock of Noblesville; sisters, Kay Day of Anderson, and Sue Smock of Anderson; brothers, Bud Bond of Florida, Otis Bond of Kentucky, and Michael Bond of Anderson; 10 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Lori Hill; sister, Hildreth Estes; and a brother, Luke Bond, Jr.

Betty’s family is planning a celebration of life at the Jim Dandy Restaurant, her favorite place to eat and visit, at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 50 E. 91st St., Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46209-4830.
