Betty J. Albregts, 98, Lafayette, Ind., passed away peacefully Monday, July 10, 2023, at her daughter and son-in-law’s home in Noblesville.
Betty was born October 15, 1924, in Attica, Ind., to the late Clarence and Lucille (Smith) Shuppert.
On August 12, 1942, she married Chester Albregts in Attica. He preceded her in passing on July 6, 2012.
Betty was a 50-year member of Sigma Alpha of Alpha Sigma Sorority; she was an officer at the local and national levels. She was also a member of St. Elizabeth Auxiliary for many years. Betty was an avid and accomplished golfer. She had five hole-in-ones during her lifetime. She was a member of the Tippecanoe Country Club in Monticello, Elks Country Club, and the Royal Woods Country Club in Naples, Fla. She was a big sports fan, especially of the Cincinnati Reds and IU basketball.
Surviving are her children, Gwendolyn Gallagher of St. Augustine, Fla., Robert (Sandy) Albregts of Fishers, Pamela Watts, and Christine (Brad Cook) Albregts-Cook, both of Noblesville; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in passing by her husband, Chester.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, July 16, 2023, at Hippensteel Funeral Home, 822 N. 9th St., Lafayette, Ind., with Rosary beginning at 4:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 17, 2023, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Lafayette. Rite of entombment will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
