Betty Ann (Newby) Cruzan, 99, formerly of Cicero, passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, in Indianapolis.
She was born on September 16, 1924, in Arcadia to Ivan and Margaret (Bryant) Newby. Betty was a graduate of Walnut Grove High School with the Class of 1942 and married Hershel Warren Cruzan on April 12, 1944. Hershel passed away March 8, 1981. Also preceding her in death were her father and mother; her sisters, Lavon Couden and Velma Insko; a daughter, Margaret Stone; a son-in-law, Richard Stipanovic; and a grandson, James Stipanovic.
Betty is survived by a daughter, Mary Ann Stipanovic of Indianapolis; grandson, Jeffrey (Theresa) Stone of Mooresville, Ind.; granddaughter, Marcy (David) Whittaker of Noblesville; and three great-granddaughters, Sarah and Emily Stone and Audrey Whittaker.
Betty Ann and her husband lived on a farm and she loved helping her husband with the farming chores. She also enjoyed working crossword puzzles, reading, knitting, sewing, and just being outdoors.
A visitation will be at noon on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at Hartley Funeral Homes Cicero Chapel, 209 W. Jackson St., Cicero, followed by graveside services at Cicero Cemetery at Cicero. Pastor Mark Knapp will officiate.
