Bethel Lutheran Church is celebrating 167 years as a church and 25 years in their building at 206th Street and Cumberland Avenue in Noblesville.

Bethel was organized on Oct. 12, 1856, in Cicero. In 1930, they constructed a new church in Cicero. In the coming six years, two other churches, Olive Branch Lutheran and Mt. Pleasant Lutheran, merged with Bethel.

Bethel continued to grow, and in 1994 the church acquired the present site at 206th and Cumberland on the edge of Noblesville. The present church and educational unit were built in 1997 and 2007. As a church, Bethel also offers a food pantry, a site for Marilyn’s Place, a site for Legacy Preschool, and a Peace Trail open to the public.

On Sunday, Oct. 22, 2023, Bethel Lutheran Church will celebrate 25 years on Cumberland Road. The church normally has three services each weekend, but for this occasion, the congregation will celebrate with one service at 10 a.m. with a meal following.

The preacher presiding will be Bishop Selbo, Bishop of the North American Lutheran Church (NALC). Bishop Selbo began his pastoral experience as a vicar in South Africa. After receiving a masters and a doctorate and serving pastorates in California, he became Bishop of the NALC in 2020.

All are invited as Bethel Lutheran Church continues to serve the Hamilton County community with worship, spiritual nourishment, education, and support activities for the community.
