The Belfry Theatre will open its final show of the 57th regular season, “Drinking Habits” by Tom Smith, on Friday, June 24, and the show will run through July 3 at The Ivy Tech Auditorium, 300 N. 17th St. in Noblesville.
Although this is The Belfry’s second consecutive production that takes place in a convent, this story is hilariously different from The Belfry’s recent production of “The Lilies of the Field.”
That being said, The Belfry is not mocking or making fun of the commitment to the religious life shared by the Sisters of Perpetual Sewing in the play.
“We hold reverence and respect for all who have taken this spiritual path in real life, as well as on our stage,” show director Nancy Lafferty said. “Our story is about nuns trying to save a convent by selling wine in their local town. The extra layers of humor come from the arrival of two reporters and their antics, mistaken identities, doors opening and closing quickly, people hiding things, and just plain silliness.”
Don’t miss this delightful two-hour evening of entertainment.
Tickets are $17 for adults and $14 for ages 12 and younger and 65 and older. To order individual tickets online for this show, visit thebelfrytheatre.com. Group rates of 10 or more purchased in advance are also available.
Next up, The Belfry Theatre Apprentice Players will present the summer youth production, Disney’s “Frozen Jr.,” July 28 to 31 at The Ivy Tech Auditorium in Noblesville.
