CICOA and Retirement Journey: Now What? are teaming up to present a Dementia Friends Workshop at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 12 in the East Room of the Hamilton East Public Library, 5 Municipal Drive, Fishers.
Dementia Friends is a global movement that is changing the way people think, act and talk about dementia. Developed by the Alzheimer’s Society in the United Kingdom, the Dementia Friends initiative is underway in Indiana and across the United States. By helping everyone in a community understand how dementia affects individuals and families, you can make a difference for people touched by dementia.
If you’d like to become a Dementia Friend, all you need to do is attend this one-hour informational session, which will explain key features of this worldwide movement, about living with dementia, and simple actions you can take to help reduce the stigma associated with this condition.
You need not be a dementia expert in order to become a Dementia Friend, nor do you need to know someone with dementia.
