Becky Lane, an artisan from Westfield who makes Gourmet Marshmallows and Marshmallow Bonbons, will be among 100 or more artists and food and beverage artisans displaying and selling their work at the 11th annual Indiana Artisan Marketplace to take place on April 1 and 2 in the AgHort Building at the Indiana State Fairgrounds & Event Center.

The Marketplace will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 1 and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 2. Tickets are $10 but are on sale for $8 now at this link. Children aged 14 and under are free.

The Marketplace, known as the state’s premier art and food experience, is an opportunity to buy one-of-a-kind artwork and artisan food directly from the Hoosiers who make it, to meet the artisans, and to share their stories. Visitors can watch artisans create artwork, cultivate relationships with their favorite artisans, and celebrate Indiana talent and creativity.

Lane is a passionate foodie and owner of Becky the Bakester, the business she started in the fall of 2020. She completed culinary school in the Chicago suburbs years ago and enjoys cooking, baking, and eating delicious food. She loves sharing her creations with her family, friends, and customers and is grateful for the support she’s received from Westfield and the surrounding communities. She juried into Indiana Artisan in 2022 and is excited to participate in her first Marketplace event.

“Our goal with the Marketplace is to connect the producer of the artwork and food with those who want to find high-quality, locally handcrafted art and food,” Lane said.

Indiana Artisan was established in 2008 to identify and support the business development of Hoosier entrepreneurs who create high-quality arts, crafts, and value-added foods (think salsa, not tomatoes … wine, not grapes). The work of more than 200 artisans in 57 counties has been designated Indiana Artisan.

Indiana Artisans include painters, beekeepers, woodworkers, winemakers, jewelry designers, weavers, makers of specialty cheeses, and more.
“An Indiana Artisan is a Hoosier recognized for careful attention to detail, knowledge of a craft, and an entrepreneurial spirit,” Board of Directors Chair Brian Blackford said. “His or her talent contributes to Indiana’s reputation for quality work. Becky’s marshmallows are a perfect example of what is Indiana Artisan.”
