Westfield blasted its way to the Class 4A Regional 4 championship last Saturday, defeating McCutcheon 13-1 at Loeb Stadium.
The Shamrocks got on the board with five runs in the third inning, starting with a two-run triple from Brayden Hibler. Westfield added three runs in the fourth and two more runs in the fifth. Matt Drozlek hit an RBI double in the fourth, while Hibler blasted an RBI double in the fifth.
The Rocks finished the game strong with three runs in the seventh inning. Hibler drove in his fourth run with a single, then Alex Rudolph added a two-run single; Rudolph had three RBIs in all.
Hibler was perfect at the plate, going 4-for-4. Drozlek also was flawless with a 3-for-3 effort. Hibler and Drew Law both scored three runs. Ty Anderson went 6.1 innings for the pitching win, striking out four.
Westfield is 21-10 and plays the winner of the Griffith regional on Saturday. Lake Central and Chesterton play for the title at Griffith on Monday in a weather-delayed game.
