Baseball roundup: Shamrocks sweep Jeffersonville

Westfield swept Jeffersonville Saturday in an away doubleheader.
The Shamrocks cruised to a 12-1, six-inning victory in the first game. Trey Dorton smacked a three-run double in the second inning, while Mac Clarke drove in a run with a third-inning double. Evan Russ tripled in two runs in the fifth inning, then was sent home by Jack Woodard’s double. Andrew Nicholson got the pitching win.
Westfield won the second game 6-2; the contest ended after six innings. The ‘Rocks scored two runs in the first inning; Maximus Webster singled in Keaton Mahan, then was scored by Clarke’s double.
In the fourth inning, Russ got home on Brayden Hibler’s sacrifice fly. Anderson got home on a wild pitch. Cole Ballard scored Dorton with a fifth-inning single, and Hibler’s line drive sent Anderson home in the sixth inning.
Matt Morris pitched three innings for the win.
Westfield finished the regular season 18-8 and plays Hamilton Southeastern Wednesday in the first round of the Noblesville sectional at Don Dunker Field.

Fishers dropped its regular-season finale on Friday, falling to Brownsburg 13-6 in a home Hoosier Crossroads Conference game.
The Bulldogs led for the entire game, scoring four runs in the first inning. The Tigers got on the board with back-to-back home runs in the second inning: Dom Oliverio smacked a two-run homer into center field, also scoring Jack Backofen, then Curtis Kearschner came up next and hit his home run into left field.
Huey Dunn scored in the fifth inning on a passed ball. Fishers added two more runs in the seventh inning when Quinn Seefeldt drew a bases-loaded walk to score Joey Brenczewski, then Evan Allbright got home on a wild pitch.
The Tigers finished conference play 12-2, winning the HCC title. Fishers is 21-7 overall and plays Carmel Friday at the Noblesville sectional.

Guerin Catholic split a home doubleheader with Terre Haute South on Saturday.
The Golden Eagles ran away with the first game, 11-1 in five innings. Guerin Catholic scored four runs in the first inning, with Bryson Dorsey smacking a two-run double. Clay Patton had a big third inning, cracking a three-run double. Daniel Donahue scored the game-ending run when Clay Patton reached on error in the fifth inning.
Will Fremion scored three runs. Davis Wagner got the pitching win.
Terre Haute South won the second game 3-1. The Golden Eagles scored their run in the seventh inning, when Sam Miller hit a sacrifice fly to send Sam Tabor home.
Anthony Ferrucci hit a triple, while Davis Wagner hit a double.
Guerin Catholic finished its regular season with a 19-9 record. The Golden Eagles by Delta Friday at the Yorktown sectional.

Hamilton Heights had a tough weekend, dropping three games.
On Friday, the Huskies fell to Yorktown 13-3 in a home game. Heights scored a first-inning run when Sam Allen got home on Dean Mason’s RBI groundout. In the second inning, Braulio Pena scored on a wild pitch, then Landon Hurley singled in Isaac Tuma. The score was tied 3-3 at that point, but the Tigers added runs in the fourth and sixth innings, then scored eight runs in the seventh.
Drew VanOeveren pitched two innings, striking out six.
Heights was swept by Frankfort in a Saturday away doubleheader. The Hot Dogs won the first game 19-2 in five innings. Pena scored a second-inning run on an error, then Drew VanOeveren singled in Kaleb Murray in the third inning.
Frankfort won the second game 11-4. The Huskies scored all four of their runs in the sixth inning. Cooper Vondersaar led off with a triple, then Mason hit a two-run home run. VanOeveren came up next and hit a right field homer. Later, James Lacey doubled in Alex Eubanks.
Mason finished the game with three hits.
Heights completed its regular season at 12-9 and plays New Castle Wednesday in the opening round of the Yorktown sectional.

Sheridan dropped both games of a home doubleheader with Carroll on Saturday.
The Cougars won the first game 11-4. The Blackhawks scored their first run in the fourth inning when Camden Spencer singled in Ryker Ream. In the fifth inning, Sebastian Salazar batted in Ty Macy for Sheridan’s second run.
The ‘Hawks added two runs in the seventh inning. Salazar singled Dayne Voege home, then Zach Bales scored Cole Macintosh. Salazar also pitched four innings, striking out five.
Carroll beat Sheridan 12-0 in a five-inning second game. The Cougars did not allow a hit.
The Blackhawks completed their regular season with a 9-13 record. The Blackhawks play Frontier Wednesday at the Tri-County sectional.

University dropped a 6-1 game to Silver Creek Saturday at the Bedford North Lawrence tournament.
The Trailblazers scored their run in the fourth inning when Seth Hogg singled in Thomas Price. Hogg also hit a double.
University finished the regular season with an 18-7 record. The Trailblazers play Speedway Wednesday at the Park Tudor sectional.
