Baseball roundup: Golden Eagles go 2-for-3 in busy week

The Guerin Catholic baseball team has had a busy week, winning two of its three games.
On Monday, the Golden Eagles fell to Zionsville 11-1 in six innings. Adam Novelen scored Guerin Catholic’s run in the fifth inning when AJ Nunley reached on error. Novelen also hit a double in the seventh inning.
The Golden Eagles rebounded Tuesday to win a Circle City Conference game 5-2 at Covenant Christian. Guerin scored two runs in the third inning when Clay Patton hit an RBI single; Anthony Ferrucci got home on an error, then AJ Nunley scored on the hit.
In the fifth inning, the Golden Eagles added two more runs. Nunley got home when Ferrucci reached on error, then Will Fremion scored after Novelen reached on error. Nunley added a seventh-inning run by getting home on a passed ball.
Nunley finished the game 3-for-3 at the plate. Davis Wagner pitched a complete game, striking out eight against four hits and one walk.
Guerin Catholic followed that up with an 8-3 win at Park Tudor on Wednesday. The Golden Eagles got two runs in the first inning, both on RBI groundouts: Patton batted in Fremion, then Novelen batted in Ferrucci.
In the fourth inning, Bryson Dorsey got home on Fremion’s sacrifice fly, then Ferrucci singled in Caden Ratcliff. The Golden Eagles added three more runs in the fifth inning: Patton scored on a wild pitch, then Sam Tabor hit an RBI single. Wagner scored on an error, then Novelen got home on the hit. Tabor scored a seventh-inning run.
Cuinn Morrow got the pitching win.
Guerin Catholic is 13-5 for the season.

Westfield got a huge come-from-behind victory on Tuesday, blasting back to beat Pendleton Heights 9-3 in an away game.
The Arabians led 3-0 after five innings. The Shamrocks scored six runs in the sixth, starting with a two-run single from Collin Lindsey; he batted Mac Clarke and Maximus Webster home. Trey Dorton then singled in Keaton Mahan, and Evan Russ’ double scored Lindsey. Then with the bases loaded, Dorton scored when Ty Anderson drew a walk, and Russ got home after Brayden Hibler was hit by a pitch.
Westfield added three more runs in the seventh inning. Mahan scored on a wild pitch, Russ singled in Austin Knott, then Russ scored the ninth run.
Seth Nanna pitched five innings for the win, striking out five. Cole Ballard got the save.
The Shamrocks are 11-4 and host Zionsville tonight in a Hoosier Crossroads Conference game.

Dayne Voege hit a triple for the Blackhawks, while Evan Grinstead and Camden Spencer scored runs.
