Baseball roundup: Blazers roll past Seton Catholic, Hounds win at Victory Field

University cruised to a 16-0, five-inning win over Seton Catholic Friday in a Pioneer Conference game at McBride Stadium in Richmond.

The Trailblazers scored in all five innings. Griffin Wright had three hits, while Charlie Ranek and Beckett Suh both batted in three runs. Ryan Castetter and Ranek both scored three runs. Ranek hit a triple, while Cooper Burnett, Suh, Castetter and Sterling Davis all hit a double.

Cooper Cammack got the pitching win.

University is 9-8 and plays Tuesday at Hamilton Heights.

Carmel picked up a 3-0 win over Avon Friday night at the Victory Field Classic.

The Greyhounds scored their first two runs in the third inning; Gabe Mathison’s left field base hit brought in Max Walkey and Jay Stein. Carmel added another run in the fifth inning; Stein scored a second run after Evan Vogt hit a sacrifice fly.

Stein and Mathison both had two hits. Cole Caldwell pitched a complete game, striking out seven against only one hit and one walk.

The Greyhounds are 9-7 and travel to Zionsville today for a noon game.
