After a quick start in the bottom of the first, Hamilton Heights looked to do what it has been doing a good amount of as of late and that’s scoring runs.
It didn’t take long at all for the Anderson Indians’ offense to get going. They kept their feet on the gas, showing the Huskies they too know how to score in a 19-3 win on Wednesday.
The Huskies seemed determined with a Dean Mason single into center to lead off. Nate Hulen reached on a fielder’s choice ground ball to second. Alex Rickey came in as a courtesy runner for Hulen. Sam Allen knocked a single to right for runners at first and second.
Drew VanOeveren walked to load the bases with one out. Isaac Tuma grounded out to second to score Rickey to get the Huskies up 1-0.
Allen was able to score on a wild pitch. Then, Logan Hickman drove home the other Heights run, lining a double to right to score VanOeveren for a 3-0 Huskies lead.
From the second through seventh, the Indians were able to score their 19 runs and completely take over this non-conference tilt to take Hamilton Heights by surprise by a score of 19-3.
The Huskies clinged to a 3-2 lead through three, but the Anderson offense exploded for three in the fourth, four in the fifth, another three in the sixth and topped it off with a seven-run seventh.
Anderson (13-8) have won four of five and head to face North Central Conference foe Muncie Central (6-11) in hopes of sweeping the three-game series with the Bearcats.
Hamilton Heights (10-5) lost just its second game in its last 10 and will make a trip to Lewis Cass (1-10-1) today. The Huskies also hope to sweep their series with the Kings, already taking the first game 6-0 on May 4.
