The Westfield baseball team won its regular-season and Hoosier Crossroads Conference finale on Thursday, beating Avon 4-0 in an away game.
Jake Russell scored the Shamrocks’ first run in the first inning, scoring after Beck Jordan hit a sacrifice fly. Westfield added two runs in the third inning after Ian Wilson hit a left field single to send Drew Law and Jordan home. Jordan then hit another sacrifice fly in the fifth inning, bringing in Garrett Pohler.
Gavin Russ also hit a double. Sam Flickinger got the pitching win; Jackson Blevins threw four strikeouts in relief.
The ‘Rocks finished conference play 8-6 and are 19-8 overall. Westfield travels to the Carmel sectional next Friday, May 30 to play the host Greyhounds in a first-round game.
