University picked up a Pioneer Conference win at Seton Catholic on Friday, by the score of 5-0.
The Trailblazers got on the board in the third inning, when Alex Washlock scored after Ben Westerkamm drew a bases-loaded walk. Washlock hit a triple to get on base. In the fifth inning, Nate Shatkowski led off with a double, and eventually got home on a single by Adam Oxley. Dawson Estep also scored on Oxley’s hit.
Washlock was 2-for-4 at the plate. Oxley pitched six innings for the win, throwing eight strikeouts.
University is 5-0 in PAAC play and 7-5-1 overall. The ‘Blazers play at noon today at Terre Haute South.

Golden Eagles win at Victory Field
Guerin Catholic had a great performance on the big stage Friday night, as the Golden Eagles beat Greenwood 7-0 in a game at Victory Field.
Guerin Catholic scored its first run in the first inning, when Braden Reel batted in Keenan Taylor. In the third inning, Luke Godfrey doubled home Nate Bingman, then later scored on a wild pitch.
Taylor smacked a triple in the fourth inning to score Wes Gingerich, then Taylor was quickly brought in by Bennett Ely’s right field line drive. In the sixth inning, Reel’s RBI groundout sent RT Hall home, then Godfrey scored after Sam Lewandowski reached on error.
Taylor and Ely both had two hits. Matt Parenteau got the win, tossing eight strikeouts in five and two thirds innings.
The Golden Eagles are 11-2 and play at 11 a.m. this morning at Warren Central.
