The baby box at Carmel Fire Station No. 345 helped save a young life Tuesday morning as crews were notified of a baby being surrendered. Within less than a minute, the healthy baby was evaluated and then transported to a local emergency room. This is the first baby surrendered at that Carmel fire station since it was installed in 2018. Seventeen babies have been placed in Safe Haven Baby Boxes in the United States since 2016. More than 100 baby boxes are in place across Indiana. (Above) Carmel Fire Chief David Haboush speaks to local media following the announcement of the baby surrendered at Fire Station No. 345.
