Awareness up, stigma down: Score one for Robbie’s Hope

Photos provided by Westfield Washington Schools

Robbie’s Hope Club of Westfield High School was at the varsity basketball game on Jan. 15 raising awareness to remove the stigma around teen mental health. It’s an uprising of teens to help other teens. The Club has made its mission stopping the suicide epidemic taking the lives of fellow students. The Club’s goal is to cut suicide rates in half by 2028. Everyone is welcome.

It is significant that we have taught teens to believe there is a stigma to mental health issues. Trained into us, we apparently accept the need to pass it on to them. It is time we surrendered that need.
