After Mr. and Mrs. Claus rolled up in a 1923 Ford T-Bucket on Sunday evening, Atlanta Town Council President Murry Dixon and Duke Energy Community Relations Liaison Dagny Zupin (above left) flipped what may be a contender for the world’s biggest light switch to officially light the Atlanta Christmas tree.
Volunteers helped set up the area for the town to gather for the annual lighting of the tree. There were Christmas carols around the fire, food and treat bags donated from area churches, and hot cocoa and cider from the Choo Choo Café.
Atlanta Clerk Jennifer Farley told The Reporter there were more people present for the lighting of the tree this year than last. “It’s nice to see the community come together,” Farley said. “Hopefully it will continue to grow each year.”
