Artist & artisan opportunities in Juried Art Fair & Gallery Exhibit with Fishers Arts Council

Fishers Arts Council (FAC) is getting ready for two big, juried events this September.

Harvest Fest, sponsored by Hamilton County Tourism, is an annual nonprofit fundraiser and community art fair that returns for its sixth year on Sunday, Sept. 7. This event focuses on helping raise awareness and funds for Fishers-serving nonprofits alongside talented artists and artisans from Hamilton County and surrounding areas. This is free event includes live music, art activities for the family, one-of-a-kind artistic creations, Indiana authors, and nonprofits who need support.

There is still space available for nonprofits, authors, and juried artists, but you must submit by the July 7 deadline, or receive a discount if you apply by the June 13 Early Bird date. Details on how to apply are at FishersArtsCouncil.org/blog.

Also in its sixth year is the annual Juried Exhibit of Hamilton County Artists, sponsored by Jiffy Lube of Indiana. FAC invites current and former Hamilton County 2D and 3D artists in any media to enter the Juried Exhibit, which will hang in the Art Gallery at City Hall and the Fishers Art Center, both located at the Fishers Municipal Complex in Fishers from Sept. 2 to 27, with a reception and awards ceremony on Friday, Sept. 12. The deadline to submit entries is July 25; artists can read the requirements at FishersArtsCouncil.org/blog.

Previous Juried Exhibit of Hamilton County Artist “Best in Show” winners were awarded accolades and prize money for their winning works: Stephanie Spay of Noblesville in 2020, Margot Bogue of Fishers in 2021, Jerry Mannell of Carmel in 2022, Mark Rouse of Fishers in 2023, and Mannell won again in 2024. This year’s winner will receive a January 2026 Solo Exhibit.

Schafer

The 2025 Juried Show judge is Carl Schafer of Muncie, Ind. He has been the co-owner of Gordy Fine Art and Framing Company since 2015. His skill as a craftsman includes restoring antique picture frames and designing replica frames. He is an art historian whose more than 25-year career in the museum profession focused on designing exhibitions and caring for works of art in virtually all materials representing the world’s major civilizations across time.

Schafter also works as a community leader as the founding president of the Muncie Arts & Culture Council, promoting the activities of arts organizations in Muncie and advocating for the arts as an economic driver and a major contributor to quality of life. He currently chairs the Muncie Mayor’s Arts Awards Steering Committee and serves on the board of MuncieArts.

With the incredible talent that resides in Hamilton County and beyond, FAC can’t wait to showcase the talents of artists and artisans at these upcoming juried events.
