Arrests made in Carmel High School social media threats

The Carmel Police Department announced late Monday night, after a thorough investigation, two male juveniles have been arrested regarding the Carmel High School social media threats.

Police officials said that the Carmel Police Department and the Carmel Clay School Administration worked together extensively for the last several days to identify these CHS students. Both individuals were transported to the Hamilton County Juvenile Detention Center on the following charges:

  • Juvenile No. 1: Intimidation (Level 6 Felony)
  • Juvenile No. 2: Intimidation (Level 6 Felony)

On Tuesday, Carmel Police Department and Carmel Clay School’s security plans remained in place with an increased police presence in and around Carmel High School. However, all evidence supports these social media threats were fabricated by both juveniles and they had no means to carry out the threats.

In a statement, Carmel Police say they are following up on further leads regarding the investigation. Police and school officials thanked the public for their patience and understanding throughout the lengthy investigation. Carmel Police spokesperson, Joe Bickell stated, “As a collaborative effort, safety and security in our schools is a top priority and concern.”
