It wouldn’t be the Hamilton County 4-H Fair without the llamas.
The Llama Barn has activity inside every day of the fair. One of those events on Friday was the Llama PR Obstacle Class, where handlers guided their llamas through a course that featured tests of agility, obedience and patience.
Other llama events included Senior Showmanship and the Pack Obstacle class on Thursday. Friday was the busiest day of all, with the Intermediate Showmanship preceding the PR Obstacle Class, then the Costume Contest, Leaping Llama and public Walk-A-Llama events taking place in the late afternoon and evening.
Today’s llama activities are the Beginner Llama Showmanship at 9:30 a.m., with the Field Obstacle at 1:30 p.m. On Sunday, the Walk-A-Llama Games and Activities begin at 1 p.m., with the public invited to participate. The Parents’ Llama Show is set for 2:30 p.m. Finally on Monday, the Youth Judging Class begins at 10 a.m.
“And we’re air-conditioned and cool in here,” said Marilyn Nenni, llama club leader.
Another attraction in the Llama Barn is four baby llamas. “They’re really cute, they’re just about a month old,” said Nenni.
So if you’re looking for something unique and a way to get out of the heat during the Fair, take a trip to the Llama Barn.
“Come out and see the llamas,” said Nenni. “We’d be glad to have you and pet them and get your llama kisses.”
