August 8, 1938 – June 3, 2021
Annetta May (Ogle) Stone, 82, Sheridan, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 3, 2021. She was born in Noblesville on August 8, 1938 to Charlie and Mildred Ogle.
She attended Sheridan High School, where she met the love of her life, Billy Stone, and the two married at the Wesleyan Church on December 18, 1960. After high school, Annetta furthered her education through Marion and Indiana Wesleyan colleges, which eventually led to her obtaining her Master’s degree through Butler University.
She loved her job as an English teacher and poured her heart into her lessons. Every chance she could help a child grow and develop she would take, inspiring curiosity in her students as they, in turn, bestowed her with a sense of accomplishment. She started her teaching career in the Westfield Public School System, which lasted for seven years, and eventually became a substitute teacher for the Sheridan Public School System, which she did for 20 years.
Throughout her life, she enjoyed the fellowship and sharing of faith brought on by the Northview Christian Church and the Six Points Wesleyan Church, and could often be found reading her Bible in preparation for her Bible Study group.
She was also a member of the Red Hat Society.
One of her favorite things to do was to travel across the United States with her kids, and during these excursions they would go camping, site seeing, and live in the moment together. Some of her fondest memories were from her travels to Texas and Alaska.
When she wasn’t at Bible study or traveling, Annetta enjoyed reading, writing, working in her garden, and most importantly spending quality time with her family.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Bruce (Diana) Stone, Fairland; Barry (Stephanie) Stone, Vincennes, and Brad Stone, Sheridan; sibling, Dale (Patricia) Ogle; grandchildren, Zachary, Kristin, Kaitlyn, Brent and Jackson Stone; and great-grandchild Miles Crider.
A funeral service will be held in her honor at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Six Points Wesleyan Church, 1545 W. 226th St., Sheridan. Calling hours will be held at the church the same day from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. After services have concluded, Annetta will be laid to rest in Crown View Cemetery. For those who will not be able to attend her service, there will be a Facebook live stream.
In lieu of flowers donation may be made in Annetta’s name to Northview Christian Church, 12900 Hazel Dell Road, Carmel, IN 46033.
