Angela Renea Dishmon, known affectionately as Angie, departed this world on March 29, 2025. Born in Tipton on November 16, 1972, she spent her life spreading joy and laughter in the hearts of those around her.
A charismatic and compassionate individual, Angie had an uncanny ability to bring smiles to the faces of everyone she met. She was a beacon of light and love in her community, always showing kindness and understanding. As the famous poet Maya Angelou once said, “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” Angie truly embodied this sentiment, leaving an indelible imprint on the hearts of those she encountered.
Angela was a dedicated childcare provider for 33 years, a testament to her love and care for children. Her home in Arcadia was not just a residence, but a sanctuary filled with love and laughter. Angie was known for her funny stories and her love of TV reruns such as Home Improvement, Friends, and The Big Bang Theory. Her love for her cats was unparalleled, and she enjoyed simple pleasures like watching Sheridan football in the fall, shopping with her daughter Kailyn, and taking her kids to the pool during the summer. Above all, her children, Corbin and Kailyn, and her daycare family were what mattered most to her. She was extremely proud of her children and cherished seeing them graduate.
Survived by her loving children, Corbin and Kailyn, Angela was preceded in death by her parents, Terry and Jarilyn (Waggoner) Purvis.
A visitation will be held in her remembrance from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, April 4, 2025, at Hartley Funeral Homes, Cicero. Following the visitation, a service to celebrate Angie’s life will be held at 11 a.m. at Hartley Funeral Home with Pastor Carol officiating. Cremation will take place following the services and Angie will be laid to rest at a later date with her parents in Spencer Cemetery in Sheridan.
