Agnes Ileen Thatcher, 92, Atlanta, Ind., passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at The Waters of Tipton, Ind.
She was born November 9, 1930, in Gas City, Ind., to Martin James and Nellie Alberta (Gerstoff) Jones. She was educated in the Alexandria School System.
Agnes married Kenneth Neil Thatcher on January 24, 1947, and she began her new role as wife and homemaker. They were blessed with three daughters, Neila Teal of Atlanta, Carolyn Friend of Tipton, and Ronda Fox of Noblesville. Additional survivors include three grandchildren, Tim Teal, Chip Friend, and Christy Friend Perrin; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Her husband preceded her in death on May 30, 2009. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by a grandchild, Angela Fox Orton; and two sons-in-law, Darrell Teal and Steve Fox.
Agnes had also worked for many years at Perfect Circle in Tipton. She was a member of Eastern Star and of the Aladdin Knights Organization. She enjoyed listening to Elvis sing and perform and she loved going to auctions and flea markets where she collected antiques. Her favorite collectible finds were Aladdin Lamps.
Her family related that she was a very loving and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She was grateful and proud that she was living to see her family of five generations.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, November 10, 2023, at Hartley Funeral Home Cicero Chapel, 209 W. Jackson St., Cicero, with burial to follow at Arcadia Cemetery. Rev. Scott Miller will officiate. A time of visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of the services.
