Hamilton County well-represented at annual Hoosier Gym Classic

Seven Hamilton County basketball players participated in the annual Hoosier Gym Classic, which took place last Saturday at the famed Hoosier Gym in Knightstown.

Five girls were among those that were on the Hickory and Terhune teams. Fishers’ Hailey Smith and Olivia Smith and Noblesville’s Kaitlyn Shoemaker played on the Hickory team, while Hamilton Southeastern’s Riley Makalusky played on the Terhune team. Olivia Brown was also on the Terhune team, but she was injured and unable to play.

Terhune won the girls game 113-102, with Makalusky scoring 15 points. Hailey Smith led Hickory in scoring with 27 points, with Olivia Smith adding nine points and Shoemaker two.

In the boys’ game, Noblesville’s Luke Almodovar and Cooper Bean both played on the Terhune team. Almodovar set a new record in scoring for the boys, pouring in 41 points. Bean added 17 points. Terhune won the boys game 137-124.
