Indiana will be well represented in two We the People: The Citizen and the Constitution national competitions April 20 to 24.
Two Indiana High School classes will represent Indiana in the We the People High School National Finals. The classes and their teachers include:
- Fishers High School, Liz Paternoster and Matt Follman
- Hamilton Southeastern High School, Janet Chandler and Alana Kane
Forty-eight classes from across the country will participate in the high school competition on April 22 to 24. The awards will be announced Monday evening, April 24.
Three Indiana middle school classes will participate in the We the People Middle School National Invitational April 20 and 21. The classes and their teachers include:
- Fall Creek Junior High School, Patrick Bradshaw and Jeanne Medeiros
- Fishers Junior High School, Mike Fassold, and Tony Sturgeon
- Woodside Middle School, Fort Wayne, Andrew Haff
Fourteen middle school classes will compete in the virtual event on April 20 and 21. Awards will be presented Monday night, April 24.
Indiana will also have an excellent contingent of judges, including:
- Scott Barnhart, Indiana Attorney General’s Office
- Robert Dion, University of Evansville
- Charles Dunlap, Indiana Bar Foundation
- Susan Firestone, attorney
- Lee Purcell, Ivy Tech
Foundation Director of Civic Education Tim Kalgreen and Civic Education Specialist Joseph O’Connor will facilitate and work as part of the scoring team for both competitions.
