Both Guerin Catholic golf squads score wins

The Guerin Catholic boys golf team began its season last Saturday with two victories.

The defending state champion Golden Eagles’ Purple Squad won the Yorktown Invitational at The Players Club in Muncie with a score of 288. Jacob Modleski was the meet medalist with a 67, followed by Zach Theime with a 73. Owen Nielsen and Leo Wessel both scored 74s and Eli Wessel carded a 75.

Guerin Catholic’s Gold Squad also got a victory at the Rochester Invitational at Red Barn Golf Club. Scores from that meet were not available.

Noblesville also played at the Yorktown Invitational. The Millers scored a 313 for fifth place.

Alex Peck led Noblesvile with a 76, while Cooper Claussen and Will Barnes both scored 77s. Brady Mangin added an 83 and Rory Bushong scored 88.

The Millers returned to action Tuesday, winning a dual meet with Cathedral 308-325 at Fox Prairie.

Claussen carded a 73, followed by Peck with 77. Barnes, Drew Decker and Jackson Umthum all scored 79s, and Mangin carded an 84.
