Republican Scott Willis, current Westfield City Councilor and candidate for mayor, announced on Tuesday the endorsement of the Westfield Professional Fire Fighters.

“Public safety is without a doubt the most important job of a mayor and certainly a top priority for my administration,” Willis said. “I am excited and honored to receive the vote of confidence and endorsement from the Westfield Professional Fire Fighters.”

Following a vote by its members, Ryan Herron, Westfield Professional Fire Fighters District Vice President, said, “Westfield Professional Fire Fighters have endorsed many candidates over the years, but Scott Willis stands out because of his record on public safety and his commitment to Westfield. Scott understands what it takes to keep the citizens of Westfield and first responders safe. His work has been notable which earned him an overwhelmingly positive vote for our endorsement.”

Willis notes that with the rapid growth Westfield is experiencing, it has been a huge challenge to keep up with the infrastructure and public safety needs of the community.

“My top priorities as mayor go hand in hand: investing in public safety and expanding and diversifying Westfield’s commercial tax base,” Willis said.
