Revisions to the federal income tax code will significantly impact the deductibility of state and local income taxes as well as property taxes in 2018. Hamilton County Commissioner, Christine Altman, said that the last version of the legislation places a cap of $10,000 on aggregate of these taxes after 2017.
“We anticipate that many county taxpayers, on advice of their financial advisors, may wish to prepay an estimate of their 2018 property taxes prior to the end of 2017. Accordingly we have asked Jennifer Templeton, Hamilton County Treasurer, to compile procedures for taxpayers to follow in making property tax prepayments.”
Altman said that the prepayment information will also be posted on Hamilton County’s website.
