Upcoming awards ceremony will celebrate youth theater

The Melanie and Rosalie Albright Foundation will hold its annual “Rosie Awards” after the new year.

The event aims to celebrate youth theater by honoring two students from various community theaters around central Indiana and will take place on Saturday, Jan. 7 at the Embassy Suites Event Center in Plainfield. A reception with food and beverages will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. The awards ceremony, including a silent auction, will follow, lasting approximately two hours.

Honorees of the Rosie Award will exhibit outstanding character traits such as respect and inclusion of their peers, a positive work ethic, a supportive and encouraging mindset, and spreading kindness everywhere they go.

Participating theaters include Agape Theatre Company, Creative Grounds Fine Arts Academy, Fonseca Theatre Company, Hendricks Civic Theatre, In His Light Players, Indiana Drama Club, The Biz Academy of Musical Theatre, Theatre For Christ, Wayne Township Community Theatre, and Youth Inspirations Theatre.

The awards ceremony will be accompanied by performances featuring students from each organization.

The Rosie Awards is in its seventh year of celebrating young artists. The event was created in memory of Rosie Albright, who brought life and light to the local musical theatre community before passing away from cystic fibrosis.

Tickets for the event can be purchased at themrafoundation.org. Tickets for attendees ages 6 and up are $25. Additionally, a VIP table with eight seats can be purchased for $250.
