Hamilton Heights High School Student

Little do most people know, Hamilton Heights High School is home to an entirely student-led enterprise known as the Husky Fan Shop. This is surprising and impressive considering the size of Hamilton Heights, but it’s made possible by the new and improved business lounge. The Husky Fan Shop provides the community with quality Hamilton Heights Husky Apparel such as t-shirts, sweatshirts, sweatpants, hats and other accessories all designed, produced and sold by students. Some of our most successful new merchandise includes the Husky Bar Logo Line and new Football apparel.

Julie Oelschlager, the head of the Husky Fan Shop, teaches her Ivy Tech-Dual Credit Principles of Business Management class important skills like time management, organization, cooperation and more in order to teach them how to run a small retail business. These skills can also help immensely in all aspects of adult life, better preparing our students for the future. They are primarily taught by being assigned roles in the five distinct departments of the Husky Fan Shop, just like a real business. Being exposed to the business field provides students with the opportunity to see if they would pursue a similar career, but even if they’re not interested it still gives an insightful understanding of the business world.

Not only does the enterprise educate students, but it also is important to the community because it brings people together with quality products promoting school spirit. In addition, the Shop often makes donations to local causes, such as the Special Olympics and the Hamilton Heights Educational Foundation.

You can see them at almost any school sporting event and help support the school, or you can even find the wonderful items online at huskyfanshoponline.com.
