Westfield broke out of a close game at Avon Tuesday night, using an outstanding fourth quarter to power past the Orioles 54-35 in a Hoosier Crossroads Conference game.
The Shamrocks led 11-8 after the first quarter and 23-20 at halftime. Westfield had moved ahead 38-32 after three periods, then ran away from Avon by outscoring it 16-3 in the fourth.
Sophia Kreag scored 13 points, made seven steals and pulled six rebounds for the ‘Rocks. Annabelle O’Hair led the boards with seven rebounds.
With the win, Westfield is now 2-1 in the conference and in a three-way tie for second place with Hamilton Southeastern and Zionsville. Brownsburg currently leads the HCC standings at 2-0.
The Shamrocks will continue conference play on Saturday, hosting Noblesville in a 1:30 p.m. varsity tipoff.
