The Hamilton Southeastern swim teams finished up their busy week with a sweep of Brownsburg on Saturday.
The Royals girls won 143-43. The meet capped a challenging week of racing, as this was the Royals’ third dual meet of the week.
HSE took first and second in all three relays once again, and swept the top three spots in the individual medley (senior Madison Kertin, freshman Olivia Harter, sophomore Kayleigh Witt), 50 freestyle (freshman Molly Pedersen, senior Lauren Passios, sophomore Bri Saple), butterfly (senior Emily Barnes, Kertin, freshman Da Bin Jung), and backstroke (Pedersen, Witt, sophomore Madison Rossillo). Names above are listed in order of finish.
Other individual event winners included Barnes in the 200 free, sophomore Sarah Ballard in diving, sophomore Abby Harter in the 100 free, sophomore Sydney Miller in the 500 free, and senior Victoria Vicory in the breaststroke.
Standout swims by non-event winners included Jung in the butterfly, sophomore Ellie Pedersen and junior Olivia Vicory in the 100 free, and Witt in the backstroke.
Southeastern’s boys won 137-43. The Royals again mixed up their lineup to get a look at athletes in different events, and the challenge from Coach Andy Pedersen was to focus on aggressive and fast turns and breakouts.
Southeastern again won all three relays, but the 200 medley and 400 free relays were among the most exciting races of the meet.In the opening medley relay, the HSE “B” relay of sophomore Connor Harrison, senior John Kirby, senior Ethan Christopher, and sophomore DJ Rogers chased down Brownsburg to take the victory, with the “A” relay less than a second behind.
And to close off an exciting meet, while the “A” 400 free relay took care of business, the “B” 400 free relay of sophomores Evan Sellers, Andrew Christopher, Ethan Forbes, and freshman Keegan Streett narrowly edged Brownsburg’s top squad to complete the 1-2 finish.
Individual event winners included Blake Ratliff in the 200 and 500 freestyles, Harrison in the IM, Rogers in the 50 and 100 freestyles, junior Nathan Barr in diving, Forbes in the backstroke, and sophomore Andrew Truxall in the breaststroke.
Other outstanding performances included sophomore Cam Knurek in the 200 free, Kirby in the IM, senior Ethan Christopher in the butterfly, sophomore Marcus Eden in the 500 free, freshman Alex Kaminski in the 100 free, and freshman Carson Drish in the breaststroke.
The Royals race Westfield Tuesday night at home.
