Carmel Clay School Board candidates Jenny Brake, Dr. Adam Sharp, and Greg Brown announced Thursday that if elected, each of them will donate their school board member stipend to Carmel Clay teachers for use in enhancing the academic experience for their students.

There is no denying that teachers spend money out of their own pockets to provide children with a creative and engaging learning experience. Brake, Sharp, and Brown recognize the efforts of local teachers and are springing into action to help.

“The donations can be used for supplemental supplies they may need to provide the best classroom experience,” Sharp said. “We want to help them eliminate their out-of-pocket expenses for items that the system should be able to provide to them.”

Brown added, “We are calling on the other school board candidates to pledge to donate their stipend as well. Imagine if we all worked together and multiplied our efforts … We would be able to provide thousands of dollars annually to our teachers.”

When asked why they chose to donate the funds, Jenny Brake, a former business administrator and volunteer coordinator, stated that the common goal is to elevate Carmel and return the focus back to the classroom and academics.

“What better way to help our children grow in the classroom academically than to provide their teachers with more resources?” Brake said.

If elected in their three respective districts, Brake, Sharp, and Brown would donate their total stipend for Carmel Clay teachers over their entire four-year terms. Should the stipend be increased at any time, they further pledge to donate all those funds as well.

  1. Is this before or after they ban all the books they don’t like?

The $2000 annual stipend per candidate times 3 is $6000. Since we have about 1100 educators that equals about $5.45 per teacher. This is enough to buy a gallon of milk.

This is a noble gesture, but it will not eliminate the out-of-pocket expenses for teachers.

We did not join in majority numbers across all political divides to oppose HB1134 only to allow people like these three who share an extremist agenda more suited in a Proud Boys and / or Oath Keepers private school. Our STUDENTS’ RIGHTS to a quality public education remain unchanged and we parents and citizens want to ensure our professional teachers are able to teach. The statewide coalitions of parents and teachers remain strong and we enjoy open lines of communication. I must admit that this was a nice stunt to get free publicity and avoid word one about the real issues and hide their nafarious aims that make them so appealing to the psychopathic censorship mongers and diversity adverse ( aka bigots) we want nowhere near our students. These three are supported by the noxious minority of parents in the Hamilton County Mom’s for Liberty, Hamilton County Concerned Citizens, Purple Parents, etc. We need not suffer “Jerry Springer” School Board Members. I have visited their Facebook Groups and can tell you, we do not want the insane headaches such School Board members would affect. Please be sure to enlightened our reasonable voting family and friends and ask everyone to NOT VOTE for any of these three for our children’s sake. Thank you.

  3. Wonder what school age children are learning from all the hand-wringing, name calling & villainizing being done by the (cough) adults in their lives & purportedly on their behalf ?

  4. If you value educational excellence and appreciate our Carmel teachers, and want to build off the incredible base of excellence we have, I’d suggest voting Kouka, Nelson-Williams, and Nichols.

Just one guy’s opinion (a guy with a Ph.D. who is married to an award-winning Carmel teacher and parent of a kid getting a full ride to college on merit and two other younger kids who also are excelling thanks in large part to CCS’s awesome environment, stellar extracurrics, incredible teachers. But n=1.)
