When you support Sheridan Youth Assistance Program (SYAP), young people get the tools they need to succeed, as well as positive experiences they will carry far into their futures. Thank you for making all these programs possible. So far in 2022 . . .
- 190 Youth received school supplies
- 110 Youth have been sponsored to keep them in healthy activities like football, volleyball, baseball, softball, soccer, cross country, track, guitar lessons, marching band, cheerleading, wrestling, basketball, swimming, scouts and dance
- 57 Youth will have the opportunity for free after school tutoring this year
- 22 Youth attended the Noblesville Boys and Girls club throughout summer with lunch and transportation provided
- 14 Youth spent time with a mentor this summer
- 10 Youth completed the summer youth employment program
- 7 Youth spent a week at summer camp at Camp Tecumseh
- 7 Youth went on a backpacking trip in Tennessee with Camptown, Inc.
- 6 Youth enjoyed an adventure day camp at Koteewi Park
- 4 Youth explored nature at a Cool Creek day camp
- 2 Youth attended the Paws and Think dog therapy program
- 2 Homeless families received support

SYAP Summer Employment Program
Ten Sheridan high school students spent their time in July learning about businesses and employment opportunities in the area, as well giving back to the community by working hard at local non-profit organizations. The program is best explained by the youth and parents. Read two testimonials below.
A few words from a student
“Over the summer, I participated in the Sheridan Youth Assistance Program and was able to go to multiple manufacturing and machining plants and learn about the careers that these places offer. We also learned about agricultural, military, environmental, and other possible careers that I didn’t know about, some of which I am able to start now as a high school student.
“As a senior who does not know what career I would like to pursue, it was a great opportunity to learn about jobs that I previously thought weren’t for me or that weren’t worth pursuing because of the required degree of schooling. I now know about plenty of jobs that I can have that pay well, don’t require extensive schooling, and I find interesting. I think that others that think that all jobs require college and horrible, grueling work schedules should join the SYAP if the opportunity is available to them.”
A few words from a parent
“[My student] had a wonderful opportunity to be a part of the program this summer. She was able to go around to many different businesses to learn about what they do and job opportunities available at each place. Every day she came home she was excited to tell the whole family about the things she learned. She took so much pride in the work she accomplished. She enjoyed getting to work with the other students who were also involved.
“As a parent I feel the program is a fantastic way to allow students the ability to learn about different jobs out there. It shows them what having a job is like. She would like to be able to be a part of it next summer if it’s possible.”

SYAP wants all students to see a bright future ahead. Along with the summer employment program, SYAP will coordinate mini career fairs throughout the year for middle and high school students where they can begin making connections with local employers and learning about career paths for their future.
Holiday assistance sponsors needed
Each year, SYAP provides families with assistance during the holiday season such as food for Thanksgiving and gifts for Christmas. Once again, SYAP is looking for sponsors for families to generously provide help so that everyone in the community can enjoy the holiday season.
