The Westfield Chamber offers a scholarship for $1,000 and two for $500. The scholarships are awarded to three graduating high school seniors who reside in Washington Township and who have plans of furthering their education.
To be considered for these awards, all essays must be submitted to info@westfieldchamberindy.com. Essays must be accompanied by the student information.
Scholarship Requirements
In addition to submitting student information, each candidate must write and submit a 500-word minimum, 1,000-word maximum essay.
The essay is not intended to be a report on the Westfield Chamber of Commerce, its activities, or its history or the history of chambers of commerce in general. This essay is a position paper. It reflects a potential real situation, and your recommendation could be taken into consideration for remedy. You are expected to create a specific solution, advocate for that solution, and appease both sides of the debate. In awarding this scholarship, a well-reasoned essay will be considered. The essay will be evaluated by community and chamber leaders using the following criteria:
- Understands the role of the Chamber in this endeavor
- Well organized and supported with examples
- Correct grammar and proper word usage
- Interesting to the reader
- Content is accurate
- Overall impression
- Refrain from using names and/or identifying relationships
