Election Board tests voting machines

The Hamilton County Election Board met on April 1, primarily to conduct a public test of the voting machines to ensure their security and functionality prior to the beginning of early voting on April 5 as well as the May 3 primary.

A total of 24 machines were chosen at random among the group would be used for early voting and Primary Election Day voting. The tests showed proper programming and all machines and tabulation equipment passed.

Also of note was that Carmel Mayor Jim Brainard had paid his $100 fine for a faulty campaign report. This is the maximum fine that can be levied for such an incident.

The Hamilton County Election Board consists of Raymond Adler, who serves as president, and Hamilton County Clerk Kathy Williams and Greg Purvis. Adler and Williams are Republicans, and Purvis is a Democrat.

The board will meet again at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 3.
