Hamilton Heights was forced to play catch-up at Southmont Friday, and eventually fell to the Mounties 35-14 in the semi-finals of Class 3A Sectional 26.
Southmont led 28-0 midway through the third quarter before the Huskies were able to get on the board. Camron Knott teamed up with Carter Compassi for a 12-yard pass play touchdown late in the period.
Neither team scored again until the final minute of the fourth quarter. The Mounties’ Reese VanCleave jogged in from the one-yard line to score his third touchdown of the game. Heights finished the game strong, though, as Compassi threw a 48-yard touchdown to Michael Cross just 21 seconds later.
Owen Powell kicked both extra points for the Huskies.
Compassi finished the game 10-of-16, throwing for 275 yards. Cross caught seven of those receptions, totaling 139 yards.
The Huskies finished their season with a 3-8 record.
