Guerin Catholic dropped its Circle City Conference opener Saturday afternoon, falling to Heritage Christian 48-44 at the Eagles Nest.
Heritage led 13-9 after the first quarter. The Golden Eagles cut into that lead by halftime, getting within 25-23. Katie Koger and Hannah Weitzel both made a 3-pointer during the second period; Koger had nine points for the first half and Kathryn Loso scored eight.
Heritage pulled away again in the third quarter, and led 40-31 going into the fourth. The Golden Eagles held Heritage to eight pints in the fourth quarter, but Heritage was able to hold on.
Koger finished the game with 17 points, while Loso added 14 points.
Guerin Catholic is 3-2 for the season and hosts Lapel on Tuesday.
