New free play boxes have been installed at three Fishers parks.
Created and maintained by Mudsock Youth Athletics, free play boxes use a similar concept to little free libraries, where each box is filled with small sports equipment, like frisbees, balls, mitts, etc., for anyone to use at no cost, then return once they’re finished.
Area residents can check out free play boxes at Cumberland Park, Holland Park, and the Nickel Plate District Amphitheater. A local artist was commissioned to paint each box in a theme that fits the park, and the boxes also serve as a fun photo opportunity for little ones.
Fishers Parks and Recreation indicated more free play boxes are on the horizon at additional parks.
