Ralph Leo Bruns, 77, Westfield, passed away on October 22, 2021. He was born on July 5, 1944 in Portland, Ind., son of the late Leo and Irene (Parrish) Bruns.
Ralph received his Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis as well as his MBA from the University of Indianapolis. Recently, he also received a Criminal Justice degree along with several other degrees.
After more than 20 years of service with Indianapolis Power and Light Company, now AES, Ralph retired and continued to work several jobs and helped with many tasks. Ralph did not serve in the military; however, he carried his patriotic duty in politics, Civil Air Patrol, and Auxiliary of the United States Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel.
Ralph earned his Eagle Scout in 1962 in Portland, serving multiple troops including Troop 125. He assisted 69 boys to journey through scouting into becoming an Eagle Scout. Ralph was also involved in acquiring uniforms for different Indianapolis Troops, and helped churches establish Troops throughout the city. He liked to talk and possessed a passion for influencing and sharing with boys to help them become well-rounded men. “Reflect on the positive seeds planted and tend to them so they may feed all with the fruit of life.”
Since 1964, Ralph was actively involved in the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his devoted wife, Kathy (Searcy) Bruns; children, Ralph II, Dana, Randell, Tina, Roger, and Rachel; six grandchildren, Ralph III, Jordan, Madison, Mitchell, Reese, and Lane; sister, Sheridan House.
Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 27, 2021 in Eagletown Cemetery, Westfield.
