The Indiana Supreme Court announced Friday it is implementing a new statewide pre-eviction program, which is intended to help landlords and tenants access available emergency rental assistance funds to keep people in their homes.
The Eviction Task Force, which issued an interim report, said it modeled the program after those in Texas and Michigan.
According to the task force, at least 36,000 eviction cases were filed in since Jan. 1 More than 5,100 of those were filed in September alone – after the federal eviction moratorium expired.
The program goes into effect Nov. 1.
