Fishers Mayor Scott Fadness presented the 2022 Fishers City Budget to residents and the Fishers City Council for the first reading and public hearing Monday night. The presentation follows several public meetings held since August 2021 to provide details of the proposed budget to members of the City Council and the public.
Highlights of the 2022 Fishers City Budget include:
Fiscally Responsible
- Financially sound, balanced budget
- GFOA-awarded budget presentation for 2021 budget
- Exceeded self-imposed requirements for cash reserves (50 percent of next year’s projected property tax revenue). The State of Indiana does not require cash reserves.
- Decrease in property tax rate by one-half cent, second-lowest city tax rate in Hamilton County
Investments in the Community
- Three new police officers
- Fishers Fire Department Station 97 construction and staffing of eight new firefighters
- Key to the City Plaza construction
- Nickel Plate Trail activation and programming
- Maker Playground equipment
- Construction of pickleball courts at River Glen
- AgriPark Restroom Facilities
Infrastructure Investments
- Cyntheanne & Southeastern roundabout
- Geist Greenway construction
- Cumberland Road expansion
- Neighborhood resurfacing program
- Curb ramp upgrades
Design and Right-of-Way Acquisitions
- 106th and Hoosier Road
- 136th Street widening
- 126th and Southeastern roundabout
- 116th and Allisonville
- Olio and Southeastern
- Road Impact Study
Additionally, the 2022 budget includes considerations for:
- Increases for electrical expenses due to rate increases
- Increases for fuel prices due to rising gas prices
- Increases in budgets for supplies for additional public safety and increases in goods
