Cross country: HSE boys, NHS girls place first at Wildcat Classic

Hamilton County cross country teams swept the top spots at the Indiana Wesleyan University Wildcat Classic on Saturday.
In the Boys Red race, Hamilton Southeastern dominated by scoring 35 points, well ahead of runner-up Westfield’s 113 points. The Royals landed four runners in the top 10: Nolan Satterfield placed fourth, Bennett Dubois was fifth, Will Marquardt placed eighth and Garrett Hicks finished ninth.
The Shamrocks’ Kai Connor was the individual runner-up in a time of 15 minutes, 25.1 seconds. Josh Barnett also reached the top 10, finishing in 10th place.
Fishers took sixth as a team; Logan Arive led the Tigers by placing 29th. Noblesville finished in seventh, with Joel Mumaw pacing the Millers by taking 12th.
In the Girls Red race, Noblesville held off Westfield for the team championship. The Millers scored 55 points to the Shamrocks’ 71.
Noblesville had two runners place in the top 10: Brinkley Cooper was seventh and Nadia Perez came in ninth. Westfield’s Liz Smith placed sixth. Hamilton Southeastern was fourth as a team, but had two top-five runners: Allie Latta took fourth and Maggie Powers was fifth.

Hamilton Heights and Westfield both had teams participate in the Maconaquah Invitational on Saturday.
In the girls race, the Huskies placed third as a team. Juliana Springman led the way with a ninth-place individual finish. The Shamrocks took eighth place; Audrey Young finished 28th for Westfield.
The Shamrocks boys team placed second in that race, with Heights taking third. Drew Neely led Westfield by finishing in 12th, while Rudy Bowman paced the Huskies by coming in 22nd place.

Carmel competed in the Brown County Eagle Classic on Saturday, with the Greyhounds girls team winning and the boys finishing in second place.
In the Girls Elite race, Carmel scored 52 points, just ahead of Columbus North with 59 points. The ‘Hounds had three runners reach the top seven, starting with second-place Jasmine Klopstad in 17:59.4, Alivia Romaniuk finished fourth in 18:08.5 and Jamie Klavon took seventh in 18:27.5.
Other Carmel runners were: 16. Olivia Mundt (18:53.4), 25. Charlotte Konow (19:17.6), 36. Evelyn Taller (19:34.2), 51. Cara Naas (20:07.9), 60. Raya Chauhan (20:24.7), 76. Chloe Del Carlo (20:50.5), 78. Sofia Vasquez (20:53.7).
In The Boys Elite race, the Greyhounds scored 70 points, with Columbus North the winner by scoring 52 points. Carmel did have the individual champion, as Kole Mathison held off CN’s Reese Kilbarger-Stump by 0.8 seconds. Mathison finished in 14:57.3; Kilbarger-Stump in 14:58.1. The Greyhounds’ Charlie Schuman took fifth in 15:32.4.
Also finishing for Carmel were: 16. Charlie Leedke (15:53.9), 24. Connor Mallon (16:02.4), 39. Connor Heagy (16:20.5), 49. Thomas Biltmier (16:29.8), 51. Lucas Lemme (16:30.1), 52. KJ Sweeney (16:30.7), 60. Quavion Hooks (16:46.3), 78. Liam Oman (17:11.4).

Guerin Catholic hosted the All-Catholic meet on Saturday, with both the Golden Eagles girls and boys teams placing second to Bishop Chatard.
The Guerin girls scored 73 points, with the Trojans far and away the winners by scoring 24 points. Chatard’s Lily Cridge won the individual race in a spectacular time of 17:04.55.
The Golden Eagles had three runners reach the top 10. Meg Schemanske placed eighth (20:58.23), Anna Hoshaw was ninth (20:58.26) and Rosie Barrett took 10th (21:00.63). Other Guerin Catholic finishers were: 25. Madison Scheidler (21:45.87), 28. Sydney Smith (21:59.93), 29. Anna Stubbs (22:00.94), 36. Sophia Galvin (22:14.47), 39. Joelle Klavon (22:27.82), 40. Ally Keller (22:29.92), 44. Kalen Moe (22:46.83).
In the boys race, the Golden Eagles were edged out by one point, as the Trojans scored 38 points to Guerin Catholic’s 39. Three GC runner landed in the top 10, led by second-place Ethan Hines, who clocked in at 16:31.51. Jack Weber was fifth in 16:43.37 and Evan McNeany placed ninth in 17:11.95.
Other Golden Eagles finishers were: 11. Ben Grissom (17:18.88), 12. Johnny King (17:22.41), 15. Christian Geary (17:36.91), 21. Carson Hess (18:03.10), 25. Patrick McParland (18:09.55), 28. William Gebhardt (18:11.60), 38. Nathan Traub (18:34.11).

University competed at the Ben Davis Invitational on Saturday.
The Trailblazers boys team scored 375 points to finish in 13th place. Lucca Conti led University by coming in 63rd place (19:07.75). Other UHS results are: 72. Ben Gleason (19:27.47), 93.
