Carmel’s Rajeev Ram won the U.S. Open men’s doubles Friday, collecting his first-ever title at Flushing Meadow.
Ram and his partner, Joe Salisbury of the United Kingdom, beat the UK’s Jamie Murray and Brazil’s Joao Soares 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 to claim the title. It’s the second Grand Slam title for Ram and Salisbury; they had previously won the 2020 Australian Open. The U.S. Open win is Ram’s 22nd tour doubles title of his career.
Ram has now four major championships. In addition to the men’s doubles wins, Ram won two Australian Open mixed doubles titles with the Czech Republic’s Barbora Krejcikova, in 2019 and 2021.
