Blackhawks fall to Delphi, 14-12

Sheridan dropped its first Hoosier Heartland Conference game of the season Friday, as visiting Delphi used a fourth-quarter touchdown to get past the Blackhawks 14-12 at Bud Wright Stadium.
The Oracles led 7-0 at halftime. Sheridan scored both of its touchdowns in the third period: Gavin Reners took a four-yard run into the end zone, then Jalen Herron gave the Blackhawks the lead when he scored on a 56-yard punt return. But Delphi sealed the win with its late score.
Reners led Sheridan’s offense with 118 yards rushing, while Peyton Cross gained 57 yards.
Sheridan is now 2-1 in conference play and 2-2 overall. The ‘Hawks will play another home HHC game next Friday, hosting Clinton Prairie.
