‘Hounds take care of Pike

Carmel picked up a rebound victory on Friday, traveling to Pike and coming home with a 34-6 Metropolitan Conference win.
The Greyhounds scored once in the first quarter, with Desmond Duffy catching a 27-yard touchdown pass from Zachary Osborne, who returned to the field after an injury. Ben Sponsler kicked the extra point to give Carmel a 7-0 lead.
Sponsler booted a 32-yard field goal early in the second quarter, putting the ‘Hounds up 10-0. The Red Devils scored their lone touchdown on a pass play later in the period, keeping within 10-6 at halftime.
Carmel pulled away in the third quarter, with Evan Brehl taking a 20-yard fumble recovery into the end zone. Osborne later scored on a six-yard run. Duffy began the fourth quarter with his second touchdown reception of the game, a 22-yard throw from Osborne. Sponsler completed the scoring with a 29-yard field goal.
Osborne went 20-of-31 for 304 yards, with Duffy and Jaedon King each collecting seven receptions. Osborne led the rushing with 42 yards.
The Greyhounds are 1-1 in MIC play and 3-1 overall. Carmel returns home next Friday to take on Lawrence North.
