Cross country: Fishers boys take State Preview meet

The Fishers boys cross country team won the Terre Haute Savings Back State Preview meet, which took place Saturday.
The Tigers scored 67 points, with Center Grove the runner-up by scoring 78 points. Fishers was led by an outstanding run by freshman Sam Quagliaroli, who took second place with a time of 15 minutes, 59.9 seconds.
Three more Tigers runners landed in the top 10. Alec Foster placed 12th, Nick Pulos was 13th and Colin Simons was 18th.
Guerin Catholic had both its boys and girls teams compete at Terre Haute. The Golden Eagles girls placed fifth with 162 points; Rosie Barrett led the way by taking 19th. Guerin’s boys scored 353 points to place 14th; Luke Moster finished in 68th place.

The Westfield girls team packed up a win at the Brownsburg Invitational on Saturday.
The Shamrocks scored 41 points, leading a 1-2-3 finish by Hoosier Crossroads Conference teams, as the host Bulldogs were second and Franklin Central placed third. Westfield had four runners finish in the top 10: Sydney Klinglesmith took fifth, Liz Smith placed sixth, Hannah Pensyl finished eighth and Robyn Schemel took ninth.
Carmel placed fourth at the meet, totaling 100 points. Emersyn Weaver led the Greyhounds by placing 14th.
In the boys race, Westfield took second with 67 points. Kai Connor was the individual winner, finishing in a time of 15:33.36. Josh Barnett placed third.
Carmel was third as team, scoring 72 points. Connor Heagy placed seventh.

Noblesville’s boys team placed second at the Rick Weinheimer Invitational, which took place Saturday at Columbus North.
The Millers scored 81 points; Columbus North ran away with the team championship with 27 points, placing four runners in the top seven. Noblesville had two runners in the top 10: Joel Mumaw took third and Asher Propst was eighth.
In the girls race, the Millers finished in third by scoring 84 points. Brinkley Cooper placed ninth and Nadia Perez was 10th.
