Golden Eagles drop CCC opener

Guerin Catholic dropped its Circle City Conference opener at Heritage Christian 18-15 on Friday.
The Golden Eagles got on the board in the first quarter when Justin Zdobylak made a four-yard touchdown run. But Heritage would score one touchdown in each of the next three quarters, getting within 7-6 at halftime, then taking a 12-7 lead after three periods.
Guerin Catholic got the final score of the game, when Sam Miller sent a 48-yard pass to Alex Gibbs, who took it in for a touchdown. Miller then threw a two-point conversion pass to Jack Cherry.
Miller had a solid throwing night, going 17-for-22 and totaling 93 yards. Cherry had six catches, Gibbs collected five receptions and Ryan Glenn made five catches. Zdobylak totaled 51 yards rushing.
The Golden Eagles are 1-2 and continue conference play next Friday at Brebeuf Jesuit.
