The Noblesville girls soccer team found itself in an unusual position Wednesday night during its Hoosier Crossroads Conference game with Fishers at the Millers’ Hallmark Orthodontics Soccer Complex.
Noblesville, the top-ranked team in Class 3A fell behind 1-0 to the 3A No. 15 Tigers in the first half before tying it up at halftime. The Millers then scored early in the second half, and that was enough for a 2-1 victory.
Freshman Mallory Slabaugh scored Fishers’ goal in the 29th minute, with Aubrey Robertson delivering the assist. Noblesville responded six minutes later when Kiana Siefert found the back of the net off a Makenna Maloy assist.
The game was now tied 1-1 at halftime. Nine minutes into the second half, the Millers took the lead when Ava Bramblett scored off a Meredith Tippner assist. Noblesville held on from there.
The Millers improved to 2-0 in the HCC and 4-0 overall. Noblesville’s next game is Friday night, when it plays Park Tudor at North Central. The Tigers are 1-2-1 in conference play and 3-3-2 overall. They host Hamilton Southeastern next Wednesday in the Mudsock game.

Another all-county girls soccer game took place at University Wednesday, as the Trailblazers hosted 2A No. 8 Hamilton Heights.
The Huskies were unbeaten coming into the game, and they remained so after beating University 8-0. Heights was in control early, leading 5-0 at halftime. Keri Townsend and Cassidy Felger both scored two goals for the Huskies, with Kyndall Ferguson, Sarah Toll, Natalie Marcum and Abby Colvin all scoring one.
With the victory, Heights is 7-0 for the season.
“At the beginning of the season, our first week and a half was a good test for us,” said Huskies coach Travis Kauffman. “I knew it would be. I knew we had the potential to be really strong, but the depth I wasn’t sure about. And that’s what’s really come together for us, what’s made that 7-0 possible is our depth has stepped up, whether it’s subs, 11th man. They’ve done well.”
University had solid play from goalkeeper Abby Hannon, who made several saves during the game. The Trailblazers are 3-3, with wins over Muncie Burris, Shortridge and Eastern.
“Each time that we’re on the field, we’re growing,” said first-year University coach Jeff Denny. “And that’s what I’m happy with. We’re progressing as a team, growing as a team, staying positive. We can always grow anytime that we’re on the field.”
Heights’ next game is an away Hoosier Conference contest at old rival Tipton. The Trailblazers are back in action Friday at Bethesda Christian.
